Research from the Institute of Education Sciences highlights the importance of both reading skills and students’ motivation to read. Access to a variety of books allows students to explore their interests, read for pleasure, and grow as readers.
The DCMS Library offers a variety of materials that students can check out during their Language and Literature class.
eBooks & Audiobooks
Students also have access to Sora, which provides eBooks and digital audiobooks that can be read or listened to on a computer or mobile device. Students can also access Sora using the link on the left side of any Schoology course.

Reliable information is essential when researching. Instead of relying solely on general internet searches, start with resources that offer relevant, trustworthy information from authoritative sources.

Destiny Discover — Search the library’s online catalog to find nonfiction books and other print resources related to your research topic.
Gale In Context for Middle School — Articles from academic journals, magazines, and newspapers, as well as primary sources, multimedia, recommended websites, reference materials, and other resources for researching a wide range of topics.
World Book Online — Encyclopedia articles, media, and other resources that provide background information on a wide range of topics.
Sora — eBooks and audiobooks that may also support independent reading and research.
When Using Information for Research
