Congratulations to our both DCC Destination ImagiNation teams for making our school proud at the Pikes Peak DI Tournament on Saturday, February 27th!
The Elementary Team placed 2nd in the region and nailed their Instant Challenge. The Middle School Team took 1st place and received the coveted Renaissance Award for Exceptional Creativity.
Both DI teams are advancing to the DI State Tournament on April 9 at Auraia Campus. This is an amazing STEAM event in which students show off their creative problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Our teams are featured in this article in the Gazette. The elementary team is in the picture, preparing to take the stage in their 1970s disco costumes, and two elementary members of the MS team are quoted in the article.
We are so proud of their amazing creativity and the countless hours of dedication that went into their medal-winning performances - go, Thunder!
Congratulations to DCMS students, Greg, Annika, Sarah, Sejin, William, and Michael for their recent participation in Honors Orchestra! Students attended a live audition in order to qualify to participate. Our students joined other musicians who were selected from across the Pikes Peak region to participate in five rehearsals, culminating in a concert which took place on January 21, 2016.

Student Shout Out Board
Kudos to 6th grade student, Millie, for creating a Shout Out Board for the girls' bathroom in the 6th/7th grade hallway. The Shout Out Board provides a place for girls to write messages of encouragement to each other. Well done, Millie!
Jeans for Teens Service Project
6th grade student, Connie, is starting a new service project! The project is called "Jeans for Teens." This project will begin January 21st. She will be placing boxes and signs near the attendance office, campus services and in the main hallway. Students can bring old pairs of jeans, to school, to donate. They can place the jeans in the boxes and the student will check the boxes at the end of every day. There is an organization that she will be taking the donations to on a regular basis. Please help our student in her efforts to make a difference in our community!
