Voices of the Nation

After a strenuous and competitive audition process, three DCC Middle School students were selected to perform in nationwide choirs this past weekend. Jessica Keegan was selected to sing in the Middle School Honor Choir (for 7th-9th graders), and Nathan Wilson and Lauren Edgin were selected for the Children's National Honor Choir (for 5th-9th graders). The latter choir was comprised of 312 students from all 50 states. Three students were chosen to represent Colorado, and Lauren and Nathan were two of them (the third was from Littleton). They performed twice this weekend in Kansas City.

All three of these DCC kid spent countless hours learning and memorizing 7 songs in the months prior to arriving in Kansas City. Over the final 5 days, they spent hours and hours in long rehearsals honing the fine details of this music, learning new methodology, and stretching themselves by learning choreography for some of these songs.

They did a phenomenal job and represented their school, district, county, and state so very well both in their talent and their character.  There were no other schools from our district represented in any of the four choirs who sang at this level.
